One of the main goals of Granara is to have a positive impact on local community.
We support local economy by buying locally, promoting local tourism, selling our products on local markets and employing local people. We are proud that majority of our 1.700.000 eur plus investment in Granara was spent on local materials and workforce.
Since the village of Granara was renovated, 10 people with two children live here permanently. But the vicinity of Granara village is sadly still socially degraded, with empty villages, scarce and old population, so there is still a lot work to do, to bring life back into our neighborhood.
We plan several projects aimed into local development:
- Promotion of local tourism. Granara gets more than 1000 visitors every year. Our visitors present a huge potential for local economy. One of the possibilities that can be developed together with local community is connection of local attractions with e-bikes.
- Voluntary work for the local projects. Granara’s volunteers can join forces with locals in doing beneficial work for the local community.
- Joint applications for European grants. Until 2020 more than half of European budget will be dedicated to environmentally friendly activities. Granara is amongst regional leaders in this field and can, together with local and regional institutions, successfully apply for grants that will benefit the entire region.
- Beneficial research with our partnership organizations. We would like to direct our research and educational partners to find practical solutions for local challenges such are development of local tourism and sustainable food production.
